Formed just last year was the Christian-based group titled WINGS – Women in God’s Service - of North Central West Virginia. Among founders is Bridgeport’s Stacy Bolle, a longtime member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church, where she teaches Sunday School and is a member of the church choir. Bolle and her fellow WINGS Board of Directors members Becky Bartrug, Michele Lamb, Michelle Nicholson and Dawn Jenkins announce an upcoming women’s retreat to be held Oct. 21 at Bridgeport Days Inn.

Titled “Second Wind,” the retreat is designed to refresh the spirit. It will also serve as a fundraiser to continue the mission of WINGS – bringing hope to area individuals in need.

“Money raised and donated to WINGS of NCWV will be used in North Central West Virginia and surrounding areas to supply items needed due to a house fire or gas or food gift cards to a mom or dad whose child is sick or injured,” Bolle said. “Those are just a few examples of what our non-profit organization has planned to help those in need.”

Women interested in attending the retreat may obtain a registration form at www.wingsofncwv.org or pick one up at Simpson Creek Baptist Church or Benedum Civic Center in Bridgeport. It is requested that registration forms be returned by Sept. 30. For more information on WINGS, visit that Web site or the group’s Facebook page, wingsofNCWV. Questions can also be directed to Bolle at 304-629-9264.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Bridgeport Days Inn with dinner served at 6 p.m. and activities to follow.

“We will have comedy, games, praise and worship services and much more,” Bolle said.

Those wishing to stay overnight can make a reservation by calling 304-842-7371. A special “slumber party” rate is available, accommodating four women for $80.
