WVU Dance Team - Including Several Bridgeport High School Graduates - to Host Dance Camp

Last February, the West Virginia University Dance Team hosted a dance camp for young area dancers. Afterwards, class members performed the new choreography for the audience of the Lady Mountaineers vs. Oklahoma basketball game at the WVU Coliseum.
“The dance camp was a complete success,” said Danielle Walden of the WVU Dance Team. “We had 273 girls come that were divided into three levels - beginner, intermediate, and advance.”
Aspiring young dancers will have that chance again as the 2016 camp will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 27 at the WVU Shell Building prior to the WVU women's game against Baylor. That tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Bridgeport High School graduates on this year's WVU Dance Team are Lauren Trupo (BHS Class of 2012), Chiara Pulice, Kallie Nealis and Danielle Walden (BHS Class of 2013) and Kylie Frame (BHS Class of 2015).
Last year, Frame participated as a student and member of the BHS Dance Team. Now she is excited to be part of the instruction team.
"I look forward to this camp because I know as a participator last year, I had so much fun and I got a little taste of what being on the dance team was like and it helped me decide if I would want to try out for the team," Frame said. "But this year, I get to help give the dancers the same experience I had last year!"
The University dance team holds the camp annually to raise funds toward its trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., where NDA Nationals are held.
Participants will learn a routine to be performed at the game to follow the clinic. Each will also receive a WVU Dance Team T-shirt and one game ticket.
Classes will be divided into three levels: Beginners: Age 6-10 , Intermediate: Age 10-13 and Advanced: Age 13 and up.
The cost is $40 if registered by Feb. 13 or $45 after. Make checks payable to WVU Dance Team and send to Coach Alex Casola, 1023 Domain Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501.
