President Donald J. Trump has announced his intention to nominate West Virginia Wesleyan College alumna and Buckhannon native Kimberly A. Reed ’93 as the First Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States for a term expiring January 20, 2021.  Reed was most recently the President of the International Food Information Council Foundation, a non-profit collaborating with governments, the food and agricultural supply chain, and health professionals surrounding the feeding of the global population.

 

Reed previously served as senior advisor to U.S. Treasury Secretaries John Snow and Henry Paulson as well as the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, where she awarded $4 billion in tax credits, loans, and grants to financial institutions and economic development groups for investing in economically distressed communities.

 

She served as vice president for financial markets policy relations at Lehman Brothers and was also counsel to three Congressional committees in the U.S. House of Representatives:  Ways and Means, Governmental Reform and Oversight, and Education and the Workforce.  Reed is recognized as one of the “100 Women Leaders in STEM” (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and serves on several boards.  She is the first woman chair of the Republican Lawyers Association.

 

Reed received a bachelor of science in biology and government in 1993 and earned her J.D. from West Virginia University School of Law. She was a member of Wesleyan’s Board of Trustees from 2007-2014.

 

Reed’s nomination must be reviewed and confirmed by the U.S. Senate Banking Committee and the full Senate.
