Washington Monthly announced its yearly rankings Monday and West Virginia Wesleyan College has been named in the magazine’s Top 30 “Best Bang for the Buck” for Southeast Colleges.  The magazine has named the College 24^th in a list of 100.

 

Washington Monthly evaluates institutions based on the extent in which they charge students who are not rich a reasonable price for quality education that will advance them in their careers.  In Fall 2015, the Obama administration released a new data set that shows, for the first time, how much students earn ten years after enrolling at a given college and whether those students are paying down at least some of the loan principal.  It also reveals the percent of first-generation students each college enrolls, a key measure of its commitment to opportunity.

 

Wesleyan began its academic year one week ago with nearly 445 new and transfer students registering.  The private residential College is currently fundraising for its “Enhancing Our Tradition, Empowering Our Future” Capital Campaign and completed classroom renovations this summer, as well as began construction on new tennis courts.
