With Breaking & Entering Incidents on the Rise, Residents Asked to Lock up Property, Be Vigilant

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 16, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

In recent weeks, instances of breaking & entering and attempted breaking & entering have been on the rise with at least one residential area targeted. Monday, residents of Summit Street reported a breaking & entering. After responding to the incident, Bridgeport Police ascertained that someone had likely entered a window of the home and had made an effort to remove valuables from the home. Just days ago, a similar incident happened on Brookview Drive, in close proximity to Summit Street/Cole Avenue. Residents in that neighborhood - as well as all residential neighborhoods - are urged to keep doors locked and windows secured. Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker also encourages all residents to be particularly vigilant, keeping an eye on neighbors' homes and reporting any suspicious activity. During daytime operations of Bridgeport Police Department (7 a.m through 4 p.m.), residents can call 304-842-8260. After hours, call 911.
