Woman Found Dead in Area Apartment; Police Name Individual as Body Sent to State Medical Examiner

The City of Philippi Police Department has confirmed that a woman was found dead on Friday, July 5. She was found deceased in an apartment.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Police have also released the identity of the woman. Kristin B Taylor, 43, is the individual found in a residential unit on South Main Street.
Chief of Police Shane Miller said the body was found around 6 p.m. on Friday. The discovery was made after a neighbor reported that Taylor had not been seen for a while and there was a strong odor emanating from the apartment in question.
Taylor’s body has been sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office. The Medical Examiner’s Office is located in Charleston.
Results from the medical examiner are being waited on by Philippi Police. No further details are available at this time as the investigation continues.
