Off the Shelf: Dates Set for the Library's Annual Book Sale

By Sharon Saye on April 29, 2015 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The main question we have been asked the last few months concerns the dates of our annual book sale.  The dates are now set for June 1st through the 6th.  We had to limit donations for the last few months because of space issues, but we are now accepting donations for the book sale. We sort through your donations and keep what the library needs.  The remainder goes into the book sale.  Unless you specifically state it, we recognize all gifts with a thank you letter.

Because the summer reading program is starting that week and has a big kick-off program scheduled in the conference room, the book sale is being held in the room next to it. It is slightly smaller, so selections will be constantly updated.   So plan to stop in frequently during the week.   The proceeds are normally used to purchase more materials.

The prices at the book sale remain the same: hardbacks are $2.00, mass market paperbacks $1.00, trade paperbacks $1.50, DVDs, record albums and CDs $1.00, audiocassettes and videos $.25, and magazines $.10.  This year we have a stack of puzzles for $2.00 each.   The book sale is held during our regular hours during the week:  Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday noon to 5 p.m.  The book sale starts closing down a half-hour early so we can get ready for the next day.

Bag Day is Saturday.  It tends to be very hectic so come early.  The library provides the bags and the price is $1.00 per bag.

If you are a senior citizen or a member of the Friends of the Library, you get 50% off.  The library defines senior citizen as starting at 60; membership in the Friends is only $5.00 for an individual, and $10.00 for a family.

So please mark your calendar.  You can’t beat these prices and it is an easy way to stock up on reading materials and benefit your library as well.
