Off the Shelf: Hour Changes Amidst COVID-19 Spike

By Sharon Saye on December 23, 2020 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Due to the surge of cases of the coronavirus in Harrison County, the library is making some temporary changes to its hours and staffing.  Beginning Monday, December 21st, the library will be available for contactless pickup from noon until 5 p.m.

The library will be closed on December 24th and 25th for the Christmas holidays, and will be available from noon until 5 p.m. the following week on Monday through Wednesday.  We will be closed on December 31st and January 1st for the New Year’s holiday.  This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

Also, there has been some concerns that books are not being checked in when they are returned in the book drop.  Since the coronavirus can live on library materials for more than 5 days, staff are unloading the book drop as few times as possible and taking the books directly to be quarantined in the conference room for 7 days.  The library is not charging fines nor are we blocking access to Overdrive (WVDELI) during this time.  We are trying to handle the books in as limited manner as possible before they are safe to be checked back in and then re-shelved.  We are doing everything we can to keep both you and the library staff as safe as possible.

Don’t forget, that you can request music and DVDs as well as audiobooks online or when you call.  And remember that we can draw from both Marion County and Clarksburg-Harrison for these requests.

From the library staff, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
