Off the Shelf: Library to be Part of Citywide Yard Sale

By Sharon Saye on August 04, 2021 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The library will be participating in this year’s Bridgeport City-Wide Yard Sale on Saturday August 7th.  We will have tables out front of the library loaded with books and other miscellaneous items.  Prices for books will be $3.00 per bag and other items are priced as marked.  The hours for the library yard sale are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The library itself is not open to the public.

The tables will include loads of fiction, mysteries, and science fiction as well as puzzles, music CDs, and DVDs.  We also cleaned out our kitchen cabinets and you will find mugs, platters, and decorative items.  Apparently, the library never used a cookie platter it did not keep.
The City is providing a printed list of those participating in the yard sale; it is available at the front circulation desk. It also contains the names, addresses and phone numbers of city restaurants.  The hours listed for the yard sale are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but like the library the actual hours individual sites are open is up to the participant.

Last year’s yard sale was cancelled due to Covid-19 and so far, participation is down; many people make up their minds too late to be included on the published lists but take advantage of the traffic to hold their own yard sales.

A reminder, traffic is heavy and often, people park on the streets to visit the individual sites; so, for anyone travelling throughout town on that Saturday expect some congestion.
