By Sharon Saye on March 11, 2020 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Considering the news of late, this might be a good time to find some light, romantic reading to give yourself a momentary break.

“The Two Lives of Lydia Bird” by Josie Silver is a romantic love story about letting go of the past.  It starts with a tragedy when Freddie, the love of Lydia’s life is killed in a car accident.  Devastated by grief, she can’t make herself leave the house, but finally with the push of her family and friends makes the first tentative steps back into life.

When Lydia finds that she can regain all she has lost with Freddie in an alternate, dreamworld where he survives, she is faced with two possibilities.  Does she want to stay in this alternative world that seems so real, or does she take the chances of happiness before her?  “The Two Lives of Lydia Bird” is an emotional story about past loves and new beginnings.

Josie’s first book, “One Day in December,” is a delightful romp focused on one brief encounter that changes a young woman’s life.  On her way home at Christmas, Laurie spies a young man at a bus stop and knows immediately that he is the one, but the bus pulls away too quickly and she determines to look for him without luck.  A year later, he turns up as the boyfriend of her very best friend.  Jack didn’t even notice her in that brief moment and is in love with the one person she would never hurt.

So, Laurie moves on with life.  She finds a man of her own and gets married, but it isn’t right for her.  Later she finds out that, Jack did notice her in that impossible moment, but doesn’t believe in love at first sight.  Laurie and Jack move through ten years of missed opportunities and roads not taken, but when the chance finally presents itself to make things turn out, what decision does Laurie make.

“One Day in December” is a sweet romance, perfect for light reading.

Other new books to lighten your mood are: “The Bromance Book Club” by Lyssa Kay Adams, “Not the Girl You Marry” by Andie J. Christopher, “Love Lettering” by Kate Clayborn and “Twice in a Blue Moon” by Christina Lauren.
