Off the Shelf: The Best Selling Books of the Summer

By Sharon Saye on September 05, 2018 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Although the unofficial end of summer is Labor Day, the calendar still offers another couple of weeks of the season.  For those who were busy this summer, here is a list of The Bestselling Books of Summer 2018 from Bookbub, the online book recommendation site.

Of course, one of the major movies of the summer was based on a bestselling book, “Crazy Rich Asians” by Kevin Kwan.  The book is an “outrageously funny debut novel” about a young woman whose boyfriend turns out to be a member of a super-rich Chinese family.  A summer break in Singapore for a wedding introduces American Rachel Chu to the antics and behaviors of three of the richest families in China.

Sandra Brown is a popular best-selling author of romances and romantic thrillers.  Her newest book is “Tailspin” about a reckless pilot “caught in a race against time.”  Daniel Silva, another best=selling author of thrillers, offers a new political novel, “The Other Woman,” about a memoir that just may reveal some of the Kremlin’s most guarded secrets.

Romance writer, Emily Giffin, returns with “All We Ever Wanted” in which “three very different people must choose between their families.”  Fellow author, Danielle Steel, focuses on a talented woman as she launches her first television series in “The Cast.”

Horror master, Stephen King kicked off the summer with “The Outsider” about the terrible murder of an eleven-year-old boy in a small town.  Nora Roberts takes her plot from the news when a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine turns into something violent in “Shelter in Place.”

Other books recommended for this summer’s reading include: Gillian Flynn’s “Sharp Objects,” Dan Brown’s “Origin,” Catherine Coulter’s “Paradox,” Bill Clinton’s and James Patterson’s “The President Is Missing,” Elin Hildebrand’s “The Perfect Couple,” Dorothea Benton Frank’s “By Invitation Only,” David Baldacci’s “The Fallen,” Tom Clancy’s “Line of Sight,” A.J. Finn’s “The Woman in the Window,” and  Brad Thor’s “Spy Master.”
