Off the Shelf: Top Selections for Month of July

The July Library Reads list, selections from librarians of the most interesting books for the month, is now available.  These books are published throughout the month of July so some of them are not yet released.
 
The top selection of the month is “Kitchens of the Great Midwest” by J. Ryan Stradal is a debut novel about the rise of a gifted young chef told from the varying perspectives of those who love her, and adds a little extra to its appeal with recipes.
 
Best-selling author Paula McLain famous for her biographical novel, “The Paris Wife” returns with another look at a famous life in “Circling the Sun” based on experiences in Africa of Beryl Markham.  Kathy Reichs continues the adventures of Temperance Brennan in “Speaking in Bones,” about a cold case that might have supernatural elements.
 
Romance writers, Susan Mallery and Jill Shalvis offer readers new stories set in small towns.  “Kiss Me” returns readers to Fool’s Gold, California, and “Second Chance Summer” is the first installment in Shalvis’ Cedar Ridge series.
 
Chevy Stevens delivers another thriller with “Those Girls” about three sisters who try to put the past behind them while “Maybe in Another Life” by Taylor Jenkins Reid takes a 29-year old into two parallel lives.
 
Lissa Evans combines a con artist, a young boy, and the London Blitz in “Crooked Heart.”  Ellen Hopkins writes a novel for adults based on a beautiful widow’s love for a surgeon who may not be who he appears in “Love Lies Beneath.”
 
The list concludes with “Good and Cheap: Eat Well on $4/Day” by Leanne Brown which shows readers how to stay within their budget and still eat healthy and with flavor.
