The City of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department is seeking interested applicants for many summer positions.

 

Currently, there is a need for Lifeguards at the Bridgeport Pool. This rewarding position is seasonal lasting from Memorial Day through Labor Day each summer. Interested applicants should be strong swimmers and enjoy working with children. This position is excellent for teaching teamwork, leadership and professionalism. The position does require a certification class. This class normally begins with a swimming challenge that requires potential guards to pass a proficiency test. After successfully passing this challenge, they begin a program lasting approximately one week. The YMCA in Clarksburg is hosting two classes this spring featuring American Red Cross Certification. These classes will start on April 4 and May 2. To receive more information on the classes, please contact the YMCA at 304-623-3303. Those wishing to apply for the lifeguard positions at the Bridgeport Pool are encouraged to submit an application to the office in the Benedum Civic Center.

 

The Parks and Recreation Department has several other opportunities for area youth as well. Concession Stand attendants at the Pool have duties including taking admissions, preparing food and drink, and cleaning. Summer Maintenance staff is hired to assist our full time maintenance crew. These positions involve grass cutting, trimming, and other general maintenance tasks within the City Park system. Finally, we are seeking Ball field Maintenance staff. These individuals will be tasked with assisting in the care of the Bridgeport Recreation Complex. Duties will include mowing, trimming, cleaning and field preparation for practices, games and tournaments.
