By Julie Perine on April 01, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport High School students have been busy creating artistic masks and other decorations for the April 12 Masquerade Ball Prom.

To be held at Village Square Conference Center, the event will showcase colorful, jazzy décor and the crowning of 2014 prom king and queen.

Chosen via vote by the senior class, those in the running for queen are Taylor Eastlack, Rachel Fulks, Delaney Marsh, London Oliverio, Alaina Shreves, Rebecca Turnbull, Lindsay Veltri and Lauren Wickenhofer. King candidates are Zach Boles, Anthony Bonamico, AC Caldera, Travis Kirtner, Troy Lowther, Justin Richter, Ryan Sprouse and Tre Trecost.

Prom king and queen will be chosen at the event in a random fashion. All candidates will perform a dance number choreographed by a group of BHS junior girls.

The prom is hosted annually by the junior class and is attended by juniors and seniors. Bridgeport High School Student Council heads up the effort with Amanda Saymon taking the lead this year. Mrs. Deanna Garrett is the faculty sponsor.

The dance will be held 8:30-11:30 p.m. at Village Square Conference Center, after which after-prom activities will be held through 2 a.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings in Charles Pointe. Organized by the junior class parents, that event will feature games, food and opportunity to win prizes including concert tickets and VIP passes, an Xbox system, laptop computer and many others.
