Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Again Selling Discounted Tickets to Area Amusement/Theme Parks

By Julie Perine on May 26, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Joe Shuttleworth said he has always told people that if they purchase their amusement park tickets at the Benedum Civic Center, they will save enough to pay for gasoline - round trip.

With fuel prices down from last summer about 42 cents on the gallon, local families might also save enough to buy lunch.

Once again, Bridgeport Parks and Recreation is selling tickets to Kennywood Park, Idlewild Park and Sandcastle with savings of $5 to $10 per ticket. All tickets are available at the Civic Center office and all transactions must be cash, Shuttleworth said. Annually, the city obtains the tickets on consignment through the West Virginia Parks and Recreation Association. The Parks and Recreation Department retains a percentage of the sales. Annually, hundreds of tickets are sold through the department, generating a couple thousand dollars. Proceeds are used for city park projects.

It's definitely a win-win, Shuttleworth said.

Idlewild and Kennywood tickets are $32 each - about a $10 per ticket savings - and Sandcastle tickets sell for $26 - about a $5 per ticket savings. Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center office. For more information, call 304-842-8240.
