Dive-In Movie Night to Feature "The Lego Movie" on the Big Screen

Friday night, Bridgeport Parks and Recreation will host the annual dive-in movie night at Bridgeport City Pool.  A special presentation of “The Lego Movie” will be shown poolside on the big screen.

“Bring your floats and enjoy the movie,” said Parks and Recreation Director Don Burton.

Spectators are also welcome to utilize the pool chairs or bring their own. The inflatable 16-by-20 foot screen – used at the city’s movie in the park nights - accommodates a large viewing area, Burton said.

The movie won’t begin until the sun goes down, but families are invited to arrive as early as 7 p.m. to enjoy family swim time. Admission is $3 per person, children and adults.

Bridgeport Parks and Recreation has been hosting dive-in movie night for about 10 years and it is typically very well attended. Last year, the event was canceled due to bad weather.

Hopefully, Mother Nature will cooperate and provide nice conditions for Friday night’s event. Although a cardboard boat race was previously planned, that’s likely not going to happen, Burton said.

As in recent previous years, there hasn’t been much interest shown in participating, he said.

Just released in February of 2014, “The Lego Movie” is a computer animated comedy/fantasy flick which follows the LEGO minifigure “Emmet” in a quest to save the world from evil after he is mistaken as a global power. The movie is rated PG for mild action and rude humor. See the trailer below.

The next  movie in the park - the season's last - takes place Friday, Aug. 1 at Bridgeport City Park. The movie is "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2."
