With Summer Around the Corner, Pool Pass Photos Now Being Taken at Benedum Civic Center

By Julie Perine on May 03, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

With just a few weeks left in the 2015-2016 school year, some families are starting to turn their thoughts to sweet summertime.

Monday, Bridgeport Parks and Recreation began taking photos for individual and family pool passes. The office wasn’t flooded with traffic, but a sprinkling of community members took advantage of the early opportunity, said Libby Phillips of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation.

The rates for season pool passes remains the same as last year. Those rates start at $85 for a resident senior citizen and range to $160 for a non-resident family of six or more.

The pool opens for the season at noon Saturday, May 28. There will be free admission that day. The pool will be open Sunday, May 29 (12:30-6 p.m.) and Monday, May 30 (noon-6 p.m.) and thereafter only on weekends until local schools dismiss for the summer.

Pool pass purchase forms are available at the Benedum Civic Center office. All checks should be made payable to City of Bridgeport. A photo ID card will be issued to all season pass holders and that pass must be presented to gain entrance to the pool.

Pool pass photos will be taken 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday. This coming Saturday, May 7, the office will be closed, but Saturdays thereafter the office will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pool passes actually went on sale April 16, the same day that private pool party bookings were first available. Those private pool party rentals were grabbed up quickly on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to private rentals, the pool is available for private party bookings during designated Thursday and Friday family nights. Some of those nights are still available, Phillips said.

Residents can stop by the Civic Center to sign up for any activities listed in the current Activity Guide which can be accessed HERE
