BHS Cross Country Teams Each Place 10th at Chick-fil-A Invitational

The Bridgeport Cross Country team had a strong showing at the Chick-fil-A Invitational last Saturday in Mineral Wells with the boys and girls teams each placing 10th overall.
Junior Kaitlin Pappas had the top finish for the BHS girls, coming in 19th with a time of 20:42.7.
Crossing the finish line with a time of 21:54.3 and in 45th place was freshman Abigail Stewart.
Madison Looker, a junior, came in 54th with a time of 22:08.5. Senior Mira Blount was 75th at 23:01.9 and junior Natalie Wagner was 113th at 24:58.6.
Also competing for the BHS girls were freshman Victoria Vash (118th, 25:15.4) and freshman Sara Rexroad (132nd, 26:13.6).
For the BHS boys, junior Sam Dodson had the best finish at 17:22.9 which put him in 32nd place overall.
Senior Joseph Goddard was 43rd with a time of 17:48.0
Sam Backus, also a senior, posted a time of 18:04.1 for 52nd place.
Senior Treyton Miller was next with a time of 18:19.2 for 59th place.
Also competing for the Tribe were senior Haden McCarthy (142nd, 21:22.0), freshman Ethan Smell (160th, 22:35.1), senior Bryar Huff (167th, 23:06.8)
Williamstown won the girls race and were led by Alyssa Sauro who posted the top time at 17:39.0. Winfield took first place in the boys race, led by Matthew Scheneberg’s winning time of 15:23.7.
The girls junior varsity team finished second behind Parkersburg.
Chloe Pethtel had the top finish for the JV girls coming in 14th with a time of 26:26.4. Three of her teammates were right behind her with Kylie Berry at 15th with a time of 26:38.9, Renzy Pethtel at 16th with a time of 26:40.2 and Brea Holt at 17th with a time of 26:42.5.
Also for the Indians, Fianna Sanders was 30th at 29:04.4, Avery McIntyre was 31st at 29:05.9 and Anna Grajales was 47th with a time of 40:45.3.
For the JV boys, Hayden Abraham was 48th with a time of 24:09.
The cross country teams will have their second out-of-state meet in as many weeks as they travel to Belpre, Ohio on Saturday.
