BHS Emerges from Greenbrier East Tourney with Three Ties and a Loss; Back in Action Thursday

The Bridgeport High School volleyball team came out of Saturday’s tournament at Greenbrier East with three ties and a single loss.
The loss was to Capital High School as the Lady Indians lost both sets 7-25 and 25-27.
Against Pikeview, the Tribe lost the first set 25-22 but came back to win the second set 25-18. It was the opposite scenario with Roane County as BHS had an early victory of 25-16 and then fell 19-25. Huntington defeated the Lady Indians 25-18 then BHS came up short in the second set with a score of 21-25.
Abby Strait led BHS with 27 kills, 26 assists, 6 aces 5 blocks and 18 digs. Strait was named to the all-tournament team.
Kristen Crowder had a good day with 16 kills and 22 digs. Also performing well for the Lady Indians were Juliet Hart, 31 assists; Katelyn Stanley 13 kills and Sami Wilson 34 digs.
BHS stands at 14-5-3 for the season and is back in action, taking on Buckhannon and East Fairmont in a home match. The action starts at 6 p.m.
