It’s postseason time for girls high school basketball as sectional play will begin around the state on Saturday.

Bridgeport, which finished the regular season at 11-11, will have to wait until next week though as the Indians earned the No. 2 seed in the Class AA Region II, Section 1 tournament. They will be at home on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game against No. 3 Elkins.

On Saturday, fifth-seeded Liberty will take on No. 4 Robert C. Byrd at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will then travel to play top-seeded Lincoln the same night as the Bridgeport-Elkins games.

The two schools that emerge victorious from the Tuesday games will meet for the sectional championship at 7 p.m. Thursday. The highest remaining seed will be the home team.

The Indians fell to Saint Maria Goretti out of Maryland, 55-46, before closing the regular season with a 59-58 win against regional foe Braxton County.

The seeding for Region II, Section 2 is Lewis County (No. 1), Braxton County (No. 2), Herbert Hoover (No. 3), Nicholas County (No. 4), Roane County (No. 5) and Clay County (No. 6).
