BHS Golfers Look to Punch Ticket to State Tournament in Region I Championship

The Bridgeport High School golf team will compete in postseason action at 9.am. Monday in the Class AAA Region I championship.
 
This year’s event is being played at Williams Country Club in Weirton which is the home course for Brooke.
 
In addition to Brooke and BHS, the field will consist of Wheeling Park, John Marshall, Morgantown, University, Preston and Buckhannon-Upshur.
 
The two schools with the best regional scores will advance to the state tournament. The top two individual scores that are not part of the top two teams, will also qualify for states.
 
This year’s state meet is scheduled for Oct. 6-7 at Oglebay Park in Wheeling.
 
The Indians played at Williams Country Club earlier in the regular season. Josh Gervais had the Tribe’s best score that day with an 88.
Mitchell Duez shot a 89, while Connor Messe and Drew Hogue each finished at 97. Marra Johnson had a 98.
