The Bridgeport High School golf team will head into Monday’s Big 10 Conference tournament with plenty of momentum, having won three matches this week.

The Indians had a team score of 172 to edge Morgantown by two strokes at a quad match at The Pines. Following the Mohigans’ 174, Brooke was third at 186 and John Marshall was fourth at 188.

The Indians’ Anthony Hazey took low-medalist honors with a 40. Colton Gerhards and Audrey Kerr each shot a 43 and Tanner Straley’s 46 rounded out the scores that went toward the team points.

Two other BHS golfers had strong outings as McKenna Knotts finished with a 46 and Scott Wy had a 49.

In a tri-match at Bridgeport County Club with University and North Marion, the Indians finished with a team score of 161. Univeristy finished with an 180. North Marion had a 159 but that was with only three golfers rather than the four needed to be a factor in the team standings.

Gerhards and Straley each shot a 39 to share low-medalist honors, while Why had a 41 and Kerr had a 42.  Michael Hazy finished with a 46 and McKenna Knotts had a 47.

The Indians wrapped up the week by shooting a 172 at the Bridgeport Country Club to edge Fairmont Senior (173) and Grafton (178).

Gerhards was one stroke better than the day before with a 38 for his second low-medalist honor in as many days.

Kerr and Straley each had a 44 and Brayden Stutler rounded things out with a 46.

Knotts also had a 46 and Hazey finished with a 52.

Monday’s Big 10 champioinship meet will start at 9 a.m. and will take place at Tygart Lake Golf Course in Grafton.
