The upcoming Class AA Region II, Section 1 tournament for high school boys’ basketball has had a change to its schedule, according to Bridgeport High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Matt DeMotto.

Originally, games were scheduled for Saturday, Tuesday and Friday. Now, games will be played on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

All games will still be played at 7 p.m. The teams’ seedings also remain the same.

On Monday, Feb. 26 the No. 5 seed Liberty will play at No. 4 seed Lincoln. Action then resumes Wednesday, Feb. 28 with top-seed Bridgeport hosting the winner of the Lincoln and Liberty contest. Also that night, No. 4 Elkins will visit No. 2 Robert C. Byrd.

The winners of Wednesday’s games will meet on Friday, March 2. That game will be played on the floor of the highest remaining seeded team.

It should be noted postseason games for both the boys and the girls’ basketball teams could be impacted if the current work stoppage by teachers statewide becomes a strike. Check with Connect-Bridgeport and other media outlets for developments on that front.
