BHS, Martinsburg Quarterfinal Game Canceled; Indians Likely Advancing to Face Cabell Midland in Semifinals

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 21, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The highly-anticipated showdown between No.5 Bridgeport and No. 4 Martinsburg in the Class AAA quarterfinals has been canceled.

The game was orginally scheduled to be played on Friday night in Martinsburg but Berkeley County's change from orange to red on the daily DHHR color map forced a series of changes.

It wasn't off completely at that time, moving to a potential 4 p.m. start today if Berkeley County could drop back down to orange on Saturday's updated daily DHHR map. The county remained red. Officially, the game can't be deemed a forfeit which would secure the Indians a spot in the semifinals until 5 p.m. today when the weekly WVDE color map comes out — if Berkeley County would somehow be gold on the 5 p.m. map, BHS and Martinsburg could play on Sunday.

If the forfeit for the Tribe does play out and become official, it would set up a semifinal game next week at Cabell Midland, which is in a simiilar situation today as its quarterfinal opponent, Spring Mills, is also located in Berkeley County.
