Apparently, West Virginia University’s football program likes what it sees in Bridgeport High School’s football program. The Mountaineers, who have three BHS alums on the roster at the present time, have shown some interest in some Indians on this year’s team.

Recently, two senior linemen – Noah Drummond and Jimmy Allison – took advantage of unofficial invites to attend WVU home games. They had the chance to be at the Delaware State and East Carolina games.

“They were invitations sent to the school,” said BHS Coach John Cole. “I think it means that least they’re on the radar, but I haven’t heard anything relating to scholarships. Still, it’s nice to take advantage of the opportunity.”

Cole said Allison and Drummond fit the mold of linemen with size and weight. He said if they opt to go the college route, whether WVU or any other major or small school if fortunate enough to be offered, that there’s a lot of work involved.

“It’s tough for any athlete to play in college, especially at a Division I level. It’s a huge commitment and I hope these two get the chance if that’s what they desire,” said Cole. “The big thing is that I hope it provides even more motivation to play harder for us.”

The players that took part in the unofficial visits get a chance to attend the games and visit with the coaching staff prior to the contests. Those in attendance also had a chance to view the facilities in Morgantown.
