BHS Softball Moves to 19-4; Weather Permitting, Finishes up Regular Season Play this Week

The Bridgeport High School softball team moved to a 19-4 record after defeating Lewis County Monday. Played on the Minutemen’s field, the contest ended 5-1 in favor of the Lady Indians.
 
Thursday evening, BHS traveled to Lincoln High School, defeating the Lady Cougars 11-1 in four innings. Pitching all four was Abby Strait, who allowed just four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Freshman Emily Riggs went 3 for 3, including a three-run homerun. Other Lady Indians with multiple hits were Shae Tomasik and Kate Stanley. Strait, Joplin Kehrer and Caty Dennison each had one. Riggs had three RBIs. Taylor Smith, Strait, Kehrer, Tomasik and Stanley each contributed RBIs.
 
Wednesday, the Lady Indians were handed their fourth loss of the season when they fell to Big 10 opponent North Marion 2-1 in nine innings. Going the distance was Tomasik, who gave up seven hits and struck out eight. Contributing hits were Smith, Molly Layne, Riggs, Tomasik, Stanley, Strait and Hannah Clark. Clark was the only player with two hits. Stanley had Bridgeport’s only RBI.
 
The Lady Indians were scheduled to play Lincoln High School this evening at home, but that game has been postponed until 5 p.m. Friday.
