The Bridgeport High School baseball team is represented on the Class AAA All-State Baseball team, released today by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association, with a total of eight players, including three who are first-team selections.
Bridgeport finished the year with a record of 32-6.
The first-teamers are senior Zach Rohrig and a pair of juniors in Michael Romano and Jacob Stavrakis.
Rohrig was chosen as a first-team infielder. The Indians’ second baseman hit .355, scored 30 runs, hit two home runs, nine doubles, three triples, drove in 28 runs and stole 10 bases.

Romano emerged as one of the state’s most complete all-around catchers. Behind the plate, he threw out 20 out of 29 attempted base stealers while leading the Indians with a .393 batting average to go along with a double, 21 runs, 18 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
Stavrakis led a balanced pitching staff, going 8-0 with one save and an ERA of 1.58 in 44 1-3 innings. He also struck out 39 batters.
Earning second-team honors for the Indians are senior outfielder Mark Biafore and junior pitcher Justin Duvall.
Biafore, who recently signed to continue his career with Salem University, led the Tribe in runs scored with 38, RBIs with 32 and doubles with 13 while hitting .343 with two home runs. He also stole 11 bases.
Duvall emerged as the team’s closer, going 2-0 and was a perfect 5-for-5 in save opportunities. He had and ERA of 1.42 and led the team in strikeouts with 42 while pitching just 24 2-3 innings.
Rounding out the BHS All-State Selections are three players who earned honorable mention status in senior outfielder Ashton Curry, senior pitcher Ben Bifano and senior third baseman Dylan Duvall.
Curry hit .333 with 24 runs, seven doubles, one triple, one home run and 24 RBIs. Bifano was 5-0 on the mound with an ERA of 1.69, 29 strikeouts and only nine walks in 29 innings. Duvall became a top-notch defender at third while hitting .337 and scoring 19 runs to go along with two doubles, a homer and 16 runs driven in.

“I’m happy for all of those kids,” BHS coach Robert Shields said. “They all worked hard and deserve it.”
Martinsburg’s Carson Boober was named the captain of the first team as a pitcher. He went 11-1 with an ERA of 1.29 and 81 strikeouts in 67 1-3 innings. He also hit .362.
