BMS Falls to South Middle 14-2; Record Drops to 6-3

On Thursday afternoon, the Bridgeport Middle School softball team boarded a Harrison County school bus to travel to Morgantown to take on South Middle School in a non-conference game. The game was played at Pam Berry Field in White Park and the Braves fell by a 14-2 score.
 
With two out in the top of the first, Avery Humble and Madilyn Fittro hit back-to-back singles. Chloe Barlow walked to load the bases. Amayah Clark singled to bring home Humble and Fittro with the first two runs of the game.
 
Sophia Rovello was the starting pitcher for the Lady Braves. This was her first varsity pitching start of her middle school career. South scored ten runs on four hits, three walks, two batters hit by a pitch, and four BMS infield errors.
 
Chloe Barlow came on in relief of Rovello. She pitched three and two thirds inning and gave up four runs on four hits, three walks, one batter hit by a pitch, three strikeouts, and one outfield and two infield errors.
 
With loss the, the Lady Braves overall season record fell to 6-3.
 
Rovello was tagged with the pitching loss. Her season record is now 0-1.
 
The Lady Braves are scheduled to play the Taylor County Lady Knights at the Grafton High School softball field tonight. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. This will be the second meeting of the season between these two teams. In the first contest, BMS defeated TCMS by the score of 12-4.
