The Class AA All-State Volleyball Team was released Thursday by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association and it has a strong local flavor to it.

 

A total of 19 players from Class AA programs in the Big 10 Conference earned all-state honors including four on first team and four on second team.

 

Philip Barbour had two first-team selections in Alyssa Hill, who was named first-team captain, and Emily Dennison. Robert C. Byrd’s Abby Fazzini and East Fairmont’s Somer Stover were also named as first-team honorees.

 

Grafton’s Payton Shreve is the second-team captain. Liberty’s Gabby Floyd, Philip Barbour’s Avery Carpenter and RCB’s Avery Childers also earned second-team honors.

 

Special honorable mention selections from Big 10 schools are Lewis County’s Morgan Riffle, North Marion’s Maggie Poling, Robert C. Byrd’s Lyndsey Heckert and Fairmont Senior’s Chloe Johnson.

 

Honorable mention selections from Big 10 school are Philip Barbour’s Katie Kennedy, RCB’s Jordan Heckert, East Fairmont’s Kierra Bartholow, Elkins’ Haleigh Riggleman, Liberty’s Kelsei Vance, Philip Barbour’s Lilley Criss and Liberty’s Brianna Cox.
