EDITOR'S NOTE: Today's game at Ritchie County has been canceled.

On Wednesday afternoon, the BMS lady Braves traveled to Shinnston to take on the Lincoln Lady Wildcats in middle school softball action.

The Lady Wildcats scored five times in the first. Two consecutive infield singles followed by two outfield base hits lead to an early 2-0. The third run scored on a ground out to shortstop. Two additional infield singles and a BMS throwing error allowed the fourth and fifth runs to score.

LMS scored three more times in the second. With one out, an infield single and a single to left started the scoring rally. Two passed balls allowed the Lady Wildcats to score a run. The next batter worked out a walk to put runners on first and third. The next run scored on a flyout to right field. A stolen base, a wild pitch, and a passed ball permitted the third run of the inning to cross the plate.

LMS added single runs in both the third and fourth innings to complete the scoring and a 10-0 loss for the Lady Indians.

BMS was only able to have one runner reach base during the game.

BMS starting pitcher, Chloe Pethtel, was tagged with the pitching loss. Her season record is now 3-1.

The Lady Braves return to action on Thursday afternoon as they travel to Ritchie County to play Ritchie County Middle School. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
