The Bridgeport High School tennis teams finished regular season play this week and now move on to Big 10, regional – and hopefully – state tournaments.

The Lady Indians finished with a 15-1 record and the boys 11-4. The girls' sole loss was to Lincoln High School. The boys also fell to the Cougars, as well as to Parkersburg Catholic, Elkins and Fairmont East.

Big 10 action will be at Robert C. Byrd High School, the first match at 9 a.m. Friday.

Heading into the tourney, the Tribe’s Taylor Abraham is seeded third in line one singles and Anna Wilfong seeded second in line two. Olivia Rush is seeded second in line three and Rachel Lamm seeded first in line four.

For the boys, Grant Duvall is seeded third in line one and Ben Holbert second in line three. Brent Sinsel is seeded second in line four.

In doubles play, Abraham and Wilfong are seeded second in line one; Caroline Furby and Ashton Miller first in line three and Duvall/Holbert fourth in line one.
“We’re looking forward to the Big 10 tournament,” said Coach Dan Oliveto. “It helps us prepare for regional, which qualifies us for state competition.”

All seeded players have a first-round bye at the Big 10, Oliveto said.
