Bridgeport Wins Four on Day One of State Wrestling Tournament in Huntington; Indians in 10th Place

The West Virginia State High School Wrestling Championships are underway at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington. And Bridgeport High School got off to a strong start Thursday.
 
Of the six wrestlers the Indians sent to Huntington to compete in the Class AA-A portion of the event, four of them were winners. Action continues today and tomorrow to determine individual and team state champions in the "AA-A" portion as well as Class AAA.
 
Aidan Gibson, Kemo Summers, Austin Gibson and Kavaughn Summers were all first day winners. Aidan Gibson took a 7-5 decision against Nicholas County’s Kyle Baker at 126.
 
For Kemo Summers in the 132 pound classification, he managed a 2-0 shutout victory. He battled Lincoln County’s Tyler Messinger.
 
In the 152 pound division, Austin Gibson advance. The win came by a major decision (11-3) against Wahama’s Ethan Herdman.
 
At the 220-pound mark, Kavaughn Summers continued his impressive junior season. Kavaughn Summer won by pinfall at the 3:20 mark against Logan Price of PikeView.
 
Thanks to the showing of those four, the Indians stood in 10th place after day one. Independence is in first place, while East Fairmont is currently in second.
