Bridgeport's Ramsey Now Tied for Lead at State Women's Amateur Golf Tourney

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 29, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A day after being tied for fourth on her birthday at the 91st Annual West Virginia Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament, Bridgeport’s Caroline Ramsey gave herself a belated gift. Today, Ramsey shot a 72 to share the lead at the event with Ritchie County High School student Sydney Snodgrass.

Ramsey’s 72 today wasn’t just the best score for action today. The total was also the best posted by any golfer in the first two days of the three day event being held at The Club at Cress Creek in Shepherdstown.

Ramsey shot a 76 on Monday to give her a two-day total of 148. Snodgrass is tied thanks to have two consistent days of 74s.

Heading into tomorrow’s final round, the tournament appears to be in the hands of just a few golfers. Adeena Shears is four strokes off the pace, while Lauryn Davidson is seven strokes off the lead and Kimberly Eaton is eight behind. After that, the duo of Karen Kinnett and Daneen Shears are both a dozen strokes away from the top of the leader board. Barring huge days by those two or horrid days by Ramsey and Snodgrass, the event appears to be a five-person battle.
