Carey's WVU Women's Basketball Team Moves Up in USA TODAY Rankings Following 2-0 Start

The West Virginia University women’s basketball team moved up one spot to No. 16 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll released on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The Mountaineers (2-0) picked up a thrilling 89-87 victory over Seton Hall Monday evening in the Preseason WNIT. The Mountaineers opened the year with a 67-42 win over Eastern Kentucky. WVU earned 300 votes in the poll, just 19 behind No. 15 Nebraska. 
 
On Monday, West Virginia stayed at No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. There are three other Big 12 teams in the coaches’ top 25 including: No. 12 Baylor, No. 13 Texas and No. 19 Oklahoma State.
 
WVU visits Mississippi State for the Preseason WNIT semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 20. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET in Starkville, Mississippi. The winner of that contest will face Albany/Western Kentucky in the Preseason WNIT Championship.
