Liberty High School in Clarksburg will be honoring former All-State player and Class of ’86 Liberty alum Julius Lockett by retiring his jersey in a pre-game ceremony on Monday, January 22, 2018 before its game versus Tyler Consolidated at 7:30pm.

Lockett was one of the leaders on a 1985-86 Liberty squad that finished the season 16-7 and lost to perennial AAA powerhouse Oak Hill in the state-semis 61-59. That Liberty team played one of the toughest AAA schedules in the state. Lockett was a 1st team All-State selection, and he is regarded as one of the top players to come out of NCWV.

Julius Lockett went on to a stellar collegiate career at Concord University where he graduated in 1990 and finished as the school’s 2nd leading scorer. Lockett was also a multi-time All-WVIAC selection, All-WVIAC tournament selection and All-WVIAC tournament MVP. He was inducted into Concord’s Hall of Fame in 2001.

Julius is the father of Jessica and Ty.

The Liberty High School community would like to celebrate and thank Juice for his contributions to Liberty High School. The framed jersey that Julius is being presented will be put on display in the Liberty High school “Hallway of Fame”, located just outside of the gymnasium.

There will be a reception for family, friends and former teammates in the school library before and after the ceremony.
