By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 21, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

On Saturday's 5 p.m. West Virginia Department of Education School Alert System Map, Harrison County is gold.

The WVDE weekly map is the one used to determine the level of in-person learning as well as extra-curricular activities on a county-by-county basis for the following week.

Six West Virginia counties are red (Marshall, Mineral, Berkeley, Hardy, Jackson and Wood) and 11 are orange. There are also six counties that have decided to move to full remote learning which is considered entering the red designation voluntarily.

In regard to the Bridgeport High School football team, the update means that Saturday's scheduled Class AAA quarterfinal game against Martinsburg is now officially a forfeit for the Indians, sending them into next week's semifinals.

BHS, which is the No. 5 seed is scheduled to play top-seeded Cabell Midland, however Cabell being orange at 5 p.m. Saturday means that the Indians and Knights can't play until Sunday (Nov. 29) at the earliest. Cabell County will have until 5 p.m. next Saturday (Nov. 28) to get to gold, yellow or green on the WVDE map to be able to play on Sunday.
