The Harrison County YMCA Masters Swim team concluded its 2018-19 season on April 6-7 at the AMYMSA (Allegheny Mountain Y Masters Swimming Association) Championships at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.  The Association has been in existence 44 years, with more than 20 YMCAs in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York as members.

The men's team won the large team championship 312-258 over a tough, but outmanned Cranberry PA team, with Lynn Nye (high point champ) leading the way with 7 individual firsts and 2 relay swims.  This will be Lynn's last year without competition.  Also leading the way was Michael Phillips with 5 first places and 2 seconds, along with Ed Borsuk (marathon swim winner and 6th place Top Ten competition) and Brian Levake, with 4 firsts and 3 seconds and Andrew Bartlett with 5 firsts.

Jack Merinar, while swimming the two toughest events, had 3 firsts, while Gary Abbate (marathon swim, 3rd place high point & Ironperson) had 1 first and Dave Mudrick (marathon swim) contributed points with a 2nd place individual and relay.

Other team members not going to championships include Phyl Charnes (2nd place high point champion and 5th in the Top Ten competition-the highest ever for someone from Harrison Count), Lee Gustafson, John Edwards (marathon swimmer finisher and 3rd place high point), Katie Felton (3rd place high point), and Stacy Berry.

Anyone interested in joining the team just needs to contact the Y or anyone on the team.
