Indians Presented with Inaugural MVB Cups for Top Class AA Boys, Girls Athletic Programs in State

During Bridgeport High School’s season-opening football contest with Lewis County at Wayne Jamison Field, a ceremony took place recognizing the program for something that took place last year. And what that was proved to be domination in the Class AA sports division.

Officials from the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission, along with representatives from MVB Bank, presented BHS with the first-ever “MVB Cup” that goes to the program with the best boys and girls sports programs. The Indians managed to win the honor on both sides of the ledger.

Principal Matt DeMotto and Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Mark Jones accepted the honor. The MVB award used a grading system on where teams finished in various sports and also used graduation rates to help determine their winner.
