Indians Football Team Ranked No. 1 in 2016 AP Poll

Another poll is out - this time the Associate Press Poll - and once again Bridgeport High School is ranked at the top of the standings in Class AA. The Indians, the three-time defending Class AA state champs earned six of the nine first place votes.
 
This is the second poll the Tribe is listed as the state's top team. BHS was listed No. 1 in the preseason MetroNews poll.
 
Like the previous poll, several BHS foes are on the list, including Fairmont Senior. The Polar Bears are ranked No. 2 in the AP poll, while new Class AA member Point Pleasant is third with two first place votes to round out the top three.
 
Robert C. Byrd is also in the top 10. The Eagles come in at No. 7, while BHS foe Keyser is listed in the No. 9 position. 
 
Lincoln once again is just on the outside  of the top ten. They are ranked first among others receiving votes. North Marion and Bridgeport's season-opening foe Lewis County also received votes.
 
The rest of the top 10 includes Bluefield at No. 4, Mingo Central at No. 5, Weir at No. 6, James Monroe at No. 8 and Hebert Hoover at No. 10. BHS's second week foe Wheeling Park is listed at No. 3 in Class AA, while South Harrison is ranked No. 4 in Class A.
