Bridgeport’s football team remained unbeaten following a 72-0 win against Preston Friday at Wayne Jamison Field. The team also remained status quo in the latest MetroNews High School Football Power Rankings.

The Indians remain in the third spot in the latest Class AAA standings. The standings are voted on by 20 state radio broadcasters and sports writers from across West Virginia.

Barring an addition to the schedule, which appears limited at best, the Tribe will be 6-0 in next week’s rankings. The Tribe has a bye week and barring the ability for Parkersburg South to make up its game with BHS it will remain an open week.

Martinsburg stayed in the top spot. The Bulldogs are now 7-0 after a 45-33 win against Riverside (Ohio). Huntington, 7-0, is in the second spot after hammering Woodrow Wilson 63-0.

Cabell Midland, at 6-1, is at No. 4. CMHS beat Capital 14-0. Rounding out the top five is University at 6-0 after the Hawks beat Albert Gallatin (Pa.) by a 36-14 score.

Future BHS foe Princeton is ranked at No. 9. The Tigers had an off week and will visit Hedgesville Friday.

In Class AA, Robert C. Byrd, 3-2, jumped from No. 9 to No. 5 with a 35-13 win against previously unbeaten Lincoln. Fairmont Senior, who will host the Eagles Friday, is 2-3 and ranked No. 6 after a game with Spring Valley was postponed due to COVID issues.

Lincoln, now 4-1, is at No. 8. The Cougars will host Elkins Friday. Herbert Hoover, 7-0, is the top team in Class AA after a 53-0 win against Wayne.

In Class A, Doddridge County is holding down the No. 3 spot. The Bulldogs are 4-0 and did not play their scheduled game due to COVID issues. DCHS is set to visit Ravenswood this week.
