Indians Radio Network Crew, led by Travis Jones, is Winner of State "Play-by-Play" Broadcast of the Year

The Bridgeport Indians Radio Network crew of Travis Jones, Chris George, and Brent Kimble have once again been named the 2021 West Virginia Broadcasters Association play-by-play broadcast of the year.

The honor is in the large market high school division. The group calls the Bridgeport High School football games on 103.3 WKMZ.

This is not the first time Jones and his partners, which have changed in recent years, have won the honor. The most recent award is the seventh win for the Indians Radio Network.

The competition is open to all West Virginia broadcasters. The only condition for the 2021 award, which is based off of 2020 airtime, is that the submitted piece for the competition had to have aired in 2020.

According to Jones, the submission is a 90-second clip submitted to the Association.

“It’s all play by play,” said Jones. “There are not production elements involved, and the game play is unedited.”
The judges, much like the listeners of the crew, liked what they had to hear in awarding the group the honors.

The West Virginia competition was judged this year by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association.
