Indians Well-Represented on Class AAA All-State Volleyball Team; Hefner Leads Way as First-Team Selection

The Class AAA All-State Volleyball has been announced by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association and Bridgeport High School is well-represented.
 
The Indians have five players who have earned all-state honors with senior standout Shea Hefner leading the way as a first-team selection.
 
Hefner, who will continue her career at West Virginia University next season, had 411 kills, 344 digs, 73 aces, 38 assists and five blocks to lead the Indians to a record of 22-9 and a spot in the state tournament.
 
Hefner second-team all-state honors in Class AA as a freshman and sophomore and was a first-team selection in Class AA a year ago before the Indians made the jump back up to AAA. She is also the school’s all-time leader in kills and digs.
 
Junior Violet Sickles was named to the Class AAA All-State second team. In 2020, Sickles had 260 kills, 74 digs, 52 aces, 14 assists and 14 blocks.
 
Senior Julia Griffith earns special honorable mention status after posting 190 digs, 38 aces, 18 assists and five kills.
 
The Tribe had a pair of players earn honorable mention status in sophomore Alexa Martin and junior Jayce Lucas. Martin had 166 kills, 73 blocks, 30 aces, 20 digs and 14 assists. Lucas, the team’s primary setter, had 742 assists to go along with 67 digs, 61 aces, 25 kills and four blocks.
 
Greenbrier East’s Chylyn Pate was named first-team captain. Morgantown’s Alayna Corwin is the captain of the second team.
