It wasn’t pretty – but a win nevertheless.

Bridgeport High School boys’ soccer team recorded a victory over Liberty High School last night, shutting out the Mountaineers 3-0.

“They didn’t play very well, but you’ll have that,” said Coach Danny Hamrick. “We played slow and I thought Liberty completely out-hustled us, but our defense played very well and gave them limited opportunities and we cashed in on the opportunities we had.”

Overall, the Indians fired five shots on goal and capitalized on three.

Assisted by Adam Bentz, Tanner Furbee shot a goal in the first half, leaving the score 1-0 as play resumed.

“During the second half, we played much better,” Hamrick said.

Freshman Tristan Nolte scored the final two goals for the Indians, one unassisted and one assisted by  Furbee.

The Indians are back in action Monday night with a home contest against the Robert C. Byrd Eagles.
