Keener Picked as Big 10 Boys Swimmer of Year, Grisso Named Top Boys Coach; Several Other BHS Swimmers Honored

Bridgeport High School is well represented on the all-Big 10 Conference swim teams with a pair of two top honors leading the way.
Sophomore Randy Keener has been chosen as the league coaches as the Boys Swimmer of the Year, while Jan Grisso has been selected as the Boys Coach of the Year.
Keener is joined by five of his BHS teammates in earning first-team all conference honors with Marcel Rodriguez, Luke Pinti, Mason Titchenal, Phillip Malenich and Ryan Knapp.
Four BHS girls earned first-team all-Big 10 status in Marra Johnson, Cheyanne Rhode, Maria Lacaria and Darian Spencer.
Five more Indians earned second-team honors in Reed Smith, Reese Allen for the boys and Vaughn Vincent, Cheri Signorelli and Hope Rieser for the girls.
Additionally, five more BHS girls earned honorable mention status in Brooke Wagner, Lilly Madden, Lindsey Suter, Kelsey Dorchak and Violet Sickles.
Buckhannon-Upshur freshman Cadence Vincent was named Girls Swimmer of the Year and B-U’s Will Squires won Girls Coach of the Year honors.
Other boys who made first team are the Robert C. Byrd trio of Zac Basler, Patrick Fubio and Jacob Howe as well as Buckhannon-Upshur’s Preston Bennett.
The rest of the boys second team is Ivan Looney-Sanders and Elijah Jones of Elkins, Sam Squires and Dane Ammons of Buckhannon-Upshur, Matthew Howe and Adam Fubio of Robert C. Byrd and Blake Roessing-Fultineer and Josh McPherson of East Fairmont.
Boys honorable mention selections are Braxton Keeney, Izaak Whetsell, Luke Anger and Rafael Caniello of Elkins, Luke Nibert, Layne England and Will Angus of Grafton, North Marion’s Jacob McMann and the Fairmont Senior duo of Kirt Drennan and Franklin Bush.
Rounding out girls second team are McKenzie Reynolds, Jenny Williams and Emma Reger of B-U, Isabelle Judy, Kaleigh Edwards and Hannah Phillips of Elkins and Fairmont Senior’s Alexis Ramsey.
The rest of the honorable mention selections for the girls are Lincoln’s Erika Ferris, B-U’s Merrody Malone and the Philip Barbour trio of Angel Watson, Madison Weese and Kaleigh Burnett.
