Lady Braves Prove Successful over Taylor County in Softball Action

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 15, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Tuesday evening the Bridgeport Middle School hosted the Taylor County Lady Knights at the Bridgeport Softball Field in inter-county softball action.  For the Lady Braves, this was their first action in over a week.

The layoff did not appear to have an effect on their offensive side of the game.  The Lady Braves scored 19 runs in the bottom of the first inning.  BMS took advantage of several Taylor County fielding and throwing errors in scoring their runs.  However, several BMS players contributed with key hits in the first inning uprising.  Katelyn Stanley tripled and doubled, Emilee Henderson singled and tripled, Allie Clark had two singles, and Laiken Cook had a double.

Taylor County scored a single in the top of the first.  Haley Curry singled with two outs.  She advanced third following consecutive walks to Lane Rush and Tatum Chocky.  Curry then scored on a wild pitch.  The Lady Knights scored two more runs each in the second and third innings to complete their scoring for the game.

BMS responded with nine runs of their own in the bottom of the second.  The big blow was three-run inside-the-park home run by Henderson.

Vaughn Vincent was the starting pitcher for the Lady Braves.  In her three innings of work, she surrendered five runs, all earned, two hits, six walks, and struck out three Lady Knights.  For Vincent, it was her first win of the season (1-0) and her first middle school varsity win as a pitcher.

The Lady Braves return to action Wednesday afternoon as they travel to play Lincoln Middle School.  Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
