Bridgeport Middle School won their fourth game of the season over Lincoln Middle School in what was a much tougher game than the final score alone would indicate. 

 

The first half Delaney Halley kept the game close with 6 saves for Lincoln. With 11:48 left in the first half, Bridgeport's Emily Anderson scored an unassisted goal to give Bridgeport the lead. Lincoln later had an opportunity to tie the game but their penalty kick went wide of the goal and the first half ended with Bridgeport up by one goal. Gracie Courtney at sweeper for Bridgeport, with the help of her fellow defenders, was able to prevent numerous breakaway attempts by Lincoln enabling the Lady Braves to maintain their one goal lead through the end of the first half.

 

In the second half, even though Delaney had 5 additional saves for Lincoln, Bridgeport's multiple scoring threats were too much for Lincoln as four different players added to the Lady Brave's score. With 20:50 remaining in the half Gabriella Reep increased the lead to 2-0 followed 2 minutes later with a goal by Sarah Povroznik off a pass from Annie Dolan. Lincoln had not given up and countered with a goal by Brooklyn Fazzinni bringing the score to 3-1 with 16:31 still remaining in the game. Bridgeport's offense quickly answered with Anna Hutchinson scoring unassisted at 14:55. Bridgeport's Kaylee Reed, with an assist by Emily Anderson, scored the game's final goal to end the game 5-1. Kyla Oldaker (first half) and Brooklyn Randolph (second half) shared time in goal for Bridgeport. 

 

Bridgeport's Lady Braves season record is now 4-0. The Lady Braves play next on Friday, September 22 when Bridgeport hosts Washington Irving at Wayne Jameson Field. The girls play at 4 p.m. followed by the boys' game immediately after.
