On Thursday afternoon the Bridgeport Lady Braves boarded a school bus and headed to Grafton to take on the Taylor County Lady Knights in middle school softball action. These two teams met once on the season and BMS was the winner by a score of 14-6 at a game played at the Bridgeport Softball Field.

Just after both teams had completed their respective pregame warm-ups, thunder and lightning rolled into the area. Then, without warning, a major hailstorm let loose. The hail was mostly the size of golf balls and some were the size of baseballs. The infield and the outfield were covered with hailstones. Needless to say, the game was canceled and it does not appear that this game will be rescheduled.

All players and coaches returned home safely and without any injuries.

However, the same cannot be said for several vehicles and the school bus. Several vehicles experienced body damage and shattered windows and windshields. The bus lost a side view mirror, a rear reflector, and suffered damage to its roof.

This afternoon, BMS will host the Lincoln Lady Wildcats at the Bridgeport Softball Field at 4:30 p.m. This will be the second meeting on the year between these cross-county rivals. In the first game played at LMS, the Lady Wildcats were victorious by the score of 11-10.
