Lady Indian Volley Team Continues Winning Streak with Wins Over Elkins, PB, Lincoln and Notre Dame

The Lady Indians volleyball team continues to explode on the court, moving to a 32-5-3 record after wins Monday and Wednesday.
 
On Monday, Bridgeport won over Elkins and Philip Barbour in a tri-match at Philip Barbour High School. The win over the Tigers resulted from a pair of sets in the Lady Indians’ favor – 25-9 and 25-8 after which they went on to beat the defending Class AA championship team Philip Barbour. Bridgeport won best out of three sets with scores 25-22, 22-25 and 25-12.
 
Payton Hefner recorded 60 assists, five aces and 14 digs. Teammates Abby Strait had 30 kills and six blocks, Katelyn Stanley 16 kills, three aces and four blocks, Juliet Hart four aces, Kristen Crowder 14 kills and 12 digs and Sami Wilson 13 digs.
 
Thursday, Bridgeport traveled to Lincoln High School for a tri-match, winning over Lincoln and Notre Dame. The Lady Indians beat the Lady Cougars 25-8 and 25-17 and the Fighting Irish 25-1 and 25-8.
 
Again, Hefner led with 39 assists and 18 aces. Strait had 22 kills, two aces and two blocks, Stanley nine kills and three aces, Hart seven aces, Crowder five aces and four kills, Payton Merica five kills and Wilson two aces and eight digs.
 
The Lady Indians continue the season Saturday, playing in Huntington against George Washington, Musselman, Parkersburg South and Woodrow Wilson.
