Lady Indians Record Win No. 2 Over South Harrison Lady Hawks

The winning streak continues. The Lady Indians won over South Harrison Saturday – their second Lady Hawks victory this season.

Capitalizing on goals scored by eight different players and just an all-around display of skill, the Tribe wrapped up a 10-1 win.

Coach John Reese said he is very pleased with the young athletes’ performance – and their unselfish method of play.

“First, to get eight different goal scorers is always a positive,” he said. “Then, to realize that eight of the 10 goals were by freshmen and sophomores is another positive sign.”

Contributing goals were Gabriela Hemeon, Mikayla Oliverio, Hailey Miltenberger, Emily McCarthy, Olivia Oldaker and freshmen Ashton Miller, Kaitlin Smith and Catie Wilson.

A sophomore, Hemeon started it all off.

“Gabriela started at center midfield for us and controlled the game for us with her hustle and grit,” Reese said. “She is a very hard worker. I have been talking to her about driving her shot, versus chipping it.  She obviously was listening, as her goal had blistering pace on it.  I’m not sure the keeper even saw it.”

Although Hemeon’s goal was impressive, Reese said the goal of the game had to be Miller’s header off a Claire Casto corner.

“She just attacked the ball and drove it home,” he said.

Miller had two goals Saturday. So did Wilson, along with an assist. Those two freshmen, along with Smith, have been getting a lot of publicity - and rightly so, Reese said.

“They have been carrying the scoring load for us early on,” he said.

Also freshmen, Lacy Bryant and Joplin Kehrer are also performing very well.

“Lacy started at left outside defender for us and was exceptional all day.  She understands the game, sees the field, and seems to be in the right place all the time,” Reese said. “Joplin, our backup goalie, played the second half of the first South Harrison game and had to come in late in the first half of this game for Morgan Willis, who was injured in a collision with one of their forwards. Joplin played the rest of the game and has not given up a goal.  She is very aggressive, listens, and has an incredible enthusiasm that I love.”

Others getting assists Saturday were Miltenberger, Whitney Bryant, Stephanie Alvaro, Reagen Lesher, Maleehah Saab and Claire Casto.
