Media: Houston Officially Asks WVU for Permission to Talk to Holgorsen about Vacant Coaching Position

The rumors involving current West Virginia University Coach Dana Holgorsen being considered for the University of Houston coaching job has heated up, according to one prominent member of the media.

Pete Thamel, who covers college football among other things for Yahoo Sports, is reporting that Houston officially contacted WVU officials for permission to talk to Holgorsen. Per Holgorsen's contract, WVU must first be notified before Holgorsen can discuss positions at other schools.

WVU is coming off a disappointing 8-4 season that saw a season-ending three-game losing streak. Among those losses was a season-ending setback to Syracuse in the Camping World Bowl.

If Holgorsen goes, a decision would likely came after Jan. 1. At that point, Holgorsen's buyout drops to $1 million.

Thamel made his announcement via Twitter. Below is the Tweet.
